(Ti Lancio dal Regno Unito) Chertsey 29 aprile 2025 – Con un esperimento da record, svolto in Germania, è stata effettuata la trasmissione quantistica di un messaggio su un normale cavo in fibra ottica. Il messaggio ha viaggiato per 250 chilometri sfruttando la rete ordinaria delle connessioni internet. La modalità è però quella delle tecnologie quantistica, che garantiscono maggior rapidità e sicurezza ai dati trasmessi. A prova di hacker, dunque.
Lo studio, pubblicato su Nature, è guidato da Mirko Pittalunga, ricercatore italiano oggi nell’azienda Toshiba Europe nel Regno Unito.
“La comunicazione quantistica su lunghe distanze – spiegano gli autori dell’esperimento – può essere ottenuta sfruttando una proprietà della luce chiamata coerenza. Lo scambio basato sulla coerenza di una “chiave di crittografia quantistica” su una rete di telecomunicazioni ottica dimostra la fattibilità dell’implementazione di una rete quantistica su larga scala in infrastrutture di telecomunicazioni esistenti
